Syllabus: Distributed Systems characteristics and models. Networking and Internetworking. Intertask communication. Distributed objects and remote call. Security. Distributed file systems. Domain name service. Transactions and concurrent access check. Distributed Transactions. Replication. Distributed shared memory.
Module Aims-Objectives: The aim of this module is to familiarize students with basic issues in distributed systems and the techniques and methods used for their management.
Upon completing this module students should be able to design, appraise and use distributed systems.
