Multimedia
Module Type: Information Technology Track
Module Code: 633Π
Syllabus: Image, sound and video processing. File types (image, sound, video), I/P-O/P devices, Image compression algorithms (JPEG, GIF), sound compression algorithms (MPEG-1, AAC), video compression algorithms (MPEG-1,2,4,7). Digital television. Platforms for multimedia applications development. Animation and Virtual Reality (VRML).
Module Aims-Objectives: 1. Update students on technological advancements in multimedia related topics such as types of memory storage, memory requirements for real-time video and audio applications.
2. Teach students the main design principles for the development of such real-time applications. Upon completing this module students should be able to design and implement multimedia applications.
