Mathematical Analysis Ι |
Module Type: |
General Foundation |
Module Code |
120 |
Syllabus: |
The space Rn. Convergence and continuity of functions, derivatives, partial derivatives.
The gradient, directional derivatives. Derivatives of higher order. Differential operands.
Mean value theorems with applications. The indefinite and the definite integral. Double/triple integrals. Line and surface integrals. Theorems of Integrated Calculus (Green-Gauss-Stokes). |
Module Aims-Objectives: |
Aim of this module is to familiarise students with basic concepts and techniques of differential and integral logic thus forming the essential conceptual background to the forthcoming specialisation modules.
Upon completing this module students should be able to:
1) Perform calculation with regard to continuity and convergence of multi-variable functions,
2) Evaluate any type or category of derivatives and employ them in various applications,
3) Evaluate double, triple, line and surface integrals and employ them in various applications (e.g. volume, area calculations). |
