GENERAL INFORMATIONS

Secretary's Office

The secretary's office of the department is located in the ground floor of the new building A (building DDE). Students can contact the administration for the following matters:

  • Provide information on registrations to the department, student transfers registrations, rankings of graduates and generally for any matter relating to student status.
  • Submit applications for registration, renewal of registration, course selection, course certificates etc.
  • Any specific issue that concerns them.
  • The secretary is daily open to the students from 10:00 to 12:00 a.m.

  • Liaison Office

    The Liaison Office of TEI serves the students of the foundation in the following:

  • Informs and advises students and graduates for postgraduate studies and scholarships in Greece and abroad, and inter-university collaborations.
  • Advises students on the possibilities and the actions they must take in order to have a positive effect on finding a job that guarantees a successful career path.
  • Collects information,which they record in a database - and then it’s processed by a special software - for specific business needs in human resources. Then diffuses to the interested graduates.
  • Facilitates business contact with alumni who have expressed interest to work in this area.
  • Continually updates a database, which has been created, with the data of all graduates of TEI.
  • Has a record of all businesses in Thessaly ordered by industry, in cooperation with the Chambers of Commerce, the AITLT (Association of Industries of Thessaly Larissa - Thessaly) and the Government Organizations.
  • Informs students about the trends in labor market compared with the demand for special skills and perspectives that are emerging through research programs - which the Office is involved – for the immediate and long term future.

    Dormitories

    The dormitories consist of eight (8) buildings with double rooms, which collectively have 596 positions, of which 294 are for males and 302 for females. The facilities have a canteen, two rooms with TV, room for table tennis and other board games like chess and backgammon. Students have access to the football, tennis and basketball court for sports activities. The students’ admission criteria are:

  • Economic situation
  • The student has not completed 25 years of age, except certain cases for which decides the TEI Council
  • The place of residence is located more than 50km from Larissa
  • The student hasn’t graduated from another higher education institution
  • The submission of supporting evidence is made during the registration. The halls are entirely property of the department. Those interested can get information from the department of Student Welfare at tel: 2410-684393, 2410-684430 and 2410-68431

    Restaurant

    The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Conference Center of TEI. Submiting the applications and the necessary documents takes place after the edition of the student's ticket bulletin at the Meal Plan Office at the department of Student Welfare, housed in the dorms. The free meal card is renewed at the beginning of each academic year, and its duration is valid for as long as the student pass is issued.

    Library

    The library system of TEI includes:

  • The Central Library of TEI
  • The Library of Multilingual Books, which is also located at the Central Library of TEI and is very close to the Department
  • The Library Annex of Karditsa
  • The Library Annex of Trikala
  • The lists of library materials are supported by the Horizon (automation system of functioning libraries). The consolidated list of libraries exceeds the 50,000 book volumes. The Central Library is responsible for receiving and integrating the books materials (documents, electronic documents, audiovisual), for suppling the magazines, for the proper functioning of the electronic management of the material and taking initiatives to coordinate work in order to effectively cover the users needs.

    Sports and Cultural Facilities

    Sports activities

    Students of TEI can take part in a range of sports activities for maintaining a good physical condition. During the academic year sporting activities take place in the following sports: Football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, chess, roads in rough terrain, winter sports, with the potential for increment in the free fitness, gymnastics, handball, swimming, badminton and Greek dances. For each sport there is a responsible gymnast.

    Also, every year take place Indoor Championships, from which male and female students are selected, who will compose the representative groups of the Institution, to participate in National Championships of Higher Education Institutions.

    In sports venues there are, except the fenced football pitches, tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts, as well as male and female changing rooms with lockers and showers.

    Cultural activities

    Students have at their disposal a wealth of cultural events of the Cultural Organization of Municipality of Larissa (Thessaly Theatre, Amateur Theatre stage, concerts in Papa Mill and Garden Theater). Still, students can visit the exhibits of the Folklore Museum, the Municipal Art Gallery and the Archaeological Museum. The city boasts several parks, such as the "Alcazar" with a mini golf and the Aesthetic Park, sports facilities, stadiums, gyms and an indoor pool. In the movie theatres of Larissa, students have the opportunity to watch all the new screenings. Also, the film club ofLarissa screens every Monday selected films of greek and foreign cinematography in the hall of Chatzigianneiou Cultural Centre. In the same hall is held every year the Mediterranean Festival of New Filmmakers and also various events such as workshops, exhibitions etc.

    In the context of social and cultural activities, students of Larissas TEI have set up and operate various groups such as:

  • Theater Group
  • Music Group
  • Photography Group
  • Film Club etc.
  • Informations are provided to any interested students in the office of cultural groups, located in the hallway on the ground floor of the main building of the TEI.
